Best Beaches in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica
Playa Espadilla Beach
Playa Espadilla beach stretches out along the coast for more than a mile across the Manuel Antonio coastline. It’s the most popular beach with tourists and the closest to downtown Manuel Antonio. On most days, you can find vacationers lounging in deck chairs under beach umbrellas, doing surf lessons, parasailing, and enjoying the sun or relaxing in the shade under the trees.
Visit our concierge at the front desk to arrange transportation, and reserve beach umbrellas, chairs, and activities.
Playa Espadilla Sur
Surrounded by the lush jungle of Manuel Antonio Park, Playa Espadilla is a white sand beach with turquoise waters. Playa Espadilla is actually two beaches. Playa Espadilla Norte is on the north side and accessible to the public, while Playa Espadilla Sur is on the south side and only accessible through Manuel Antonio National Park, which will cost foreigners $18 USD to enter. Due to this, the south beach tends to be less crowded.
Also, the protected cove of Espadilla Sur has very calm waters and the area itself is very tranquil, except for the visiting monkeys! Activities on this beach are similar to Manual Antonio Beach, save sunset. Playa Espadilla is the only beach in the park to face west and sunsets here are considered to be among the best in Costa Rica. This beach is close to the park’s entrance and can be reached in the same way as Manuel Antonio Park.
Playa Playitas
An amazing beach area where the locals and surfers hang out to catch the waves. One of the only places where you can still drive on the beach. The 4×4 to access that beach area by car. It is a nice walk down but a little bit of a hike coming back uphill. We recommend wearing good walking shoes and taking sunscreen, and water if you are walking down. Then I walked along the shorelines to Playa Espadia and catch a taxi back instead of walking back uphill.
Playa Biesanz Beach
Vista Ocean Suites hotel is a 10 – 15 minute walk well-groomed nature trail to the Playa Biesanz. Guests get to explore the trail and enjoy all the wildlife in the area. The beach is a short 5-10 minute walk to the beach. Inquire at the Reception desk for more information.
Playa Biesanz is a white sand beach, with gentle waves and few stones. It is located a few kilometers from the Manuel Antonio National Park. You take a nice trail to arrive at this incredible place of crystal-clear water and enormous beauty. In Biensanz you can take a dip, in the calm waters. A great place to take out a kayak and do some snorkel or simply rest and soak in the sun under the shade areas and umbrellas.
Parque Nahomi
If you are in the Quepos/Manuel Antonio area, we recommend that you enjoy a sunset in Parque Nahomi. This small park on Quepos southern edge offers visitors incredible views of the sea and provides a tranquil environment to enjoy the sunset.
Nahomi Park is a hidden Jem, located past the Marina, a beautiful park with walking trails, BBQ, tables, workout area. Nice for swimming, kayaking, and onshore fishing or just soaking in the spectacular views and listening to the crashing waves.
